To meet the minimum standard of competence for all trainees assigned to shipboard duties as required in Section A-V/2 paragraph 2 of the STCW Code, this course is designed to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the following competences in Safety Training for Personnel Providing Direct Service to Passengers in Passenger Spaces.

Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must be able:

• communicate with crew and passengers during an emergency;
• demonstrate to passengers the use of personal life-saving appliances; and
• explain the procedures in embarking and disembarking passengers with special attention to persons with disabilities and persons needing special assistance.

• investigate and compile reports on fire incidents
