Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-V/1-2, Table A-V/1- 2-1 of the STCW Code as amended.

Learning Outcomes

To meet the minimum standard of competences for all trainees on liquefied gas tankers as required in Section A-V/1-2 of the STCW Code as amended, this course is designed to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the competences on Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations:

Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must:

  • contribute to the safe operation of a liquefied gas tanker;
  • take precautions to prevent hazards;
  • apply occupational health and safety precautions and measures;
  • carry out fire-fighting operations;
  • respond to emergencies; and
  • take precautions to prevent pollution of the environment from the release of liquefied gases
