Medical Care
This Medical Care (MECA) course covers the mandatory competences and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-VI/4, Table A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code.
Learning Outcomes
To meet the minimum standard of competence for all trainees assigned to shipboard duties as required in Section A-VI/4 of the STCW Code, this course is designed to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the competences on Medical Care.
Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must be able to:
- provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board; and
- participate in coordinated schemes for medical assistance to ships.

- Medical First Aid Training Certificate
- Trainees must be physically fit
