This Refresher Course on Survival Craft and Fast Rescue Boat other than Fast Rescue Boats aims to meet the requirement in paragraph 5 of Section A-VI/2 which states that “seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 4 in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of Table A-VI/2-1.”

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this training course, the trainee is fulfilling the requirements in Section A- VI/2 paragraphs 5 and 6 of the STCW Code.

In view of the acceptance of onboard training and experience as a means for maintaining the required standards of competence, seafarers must be able to demonstrate the following competences upon successful completion of this course:

Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must:

  • right an inverted life raft while wearing a lifejacket;
  • start and operate an inboard engine fitted in an open or enclosed lifeboat; and
  • use signaling equipment, including pyrotechnics.

Course Requirements

  • COP of PSCRB with at least 3 months validity
  • At least 12 months sea going experience with in the last five year
  • Valid Medical Certificate
