This Refresher Course on Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations aims to meet the requirement in paragraph 3 of Regulation I/11 which states that “Every master and officer shall be required, at intervals not exceeding five years, to establish continued professional competence for tankers in accordance with Section A-I/11, paragraph 3 of the STCW Code.”
To establish the continued professional competence for seafarers serving onboard tanker vessels, this course is designed to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the competences in Refresher Course on Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations.
Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must be able to:
Entry to the course is open to all officers and any person with immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, care in transit, handling of cargo, tank cleaning or other cargo-related operations on oil tankers in accordance with Section B-V/1, paragraph 1 of the STCW Code who intend to revalidate the Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in ATOTCO.
They must be medically fit to enable them to participate in all aspects of the training particularly the practical exercises.
