“COMPASS will never stop providing better services by offering world-class facilities,” these are the words of Captain Antonio Burguete Jr., Chairman of the Board of Directors of COMPASS Training Center, Inc., as he opened the launching of COMPASS’ newly built mooring facility at C-nergy International Leisure and Convention Center in Silang, Cavite on February 08, 2018, Thursday.
AB Gilbert Raganit was given the honor to cut the ribbon alongside Mr. Dakila Villanueva, President of COMPASS Training Center, Inc. Mr. Villanueva explained that such gesture symbolizes COMPASS’ commitment to its advocacy, that is, to put premium on the needs of seafarers.
“COMPASS does everything first and foremost for the seafarers. We want to provide additional competence leading to enhanced safety… We want to give seafarers the training that they deserve,” Mr. Villanueva emphasized.
This launching event was participated by a hundred guests and participants representing 72 companies in the maritime industry. It included a live demonstration of a safe mooring operation headed by Captain Eric Roy Gepilano as the acting master with officer on watch second mate Nikolai Macadaeg and Bosun Alfidel Divinagracia.
“Mooring is the 7th most frequent source of accidents and is the 3rd most expensive claim by accident value,” Mr. Burguete reported. “This is why it is important for seafarers to undergo the safe mooring training,” he continued.
The said event was made possible through a collaborative partnership with COMPASS’ affiliate companies, namely: Compass Center for Leadership, Management, and Governance (CCLMG), Compass Offshore, Compass Brew, and C-nergy International, Inc..
