COMPASS TRAINING CENTER CONDUCTED A 2-DAY FREE TRAINING FOR THE EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF THE PHILIPPINE

Sep 1, 2011

Selected key personnel of the Philippine Fleet, led by Commander Hilarion D. Cesista, (Director, DEP VI), were sent to COMPASS Training Center, Inc. by the Philippine Navy for a 2-day special training on simulator familiarization courses which was held last week, August 25 and 26, 2011. As part of COMPASS’ advocacy to the maritime industry, as well as to the welfare of the country, the said familiarization courses were conducted at no cost.

According to Commander Cesista, they selected 25 Executive Officers to undergo training on both deck and engine familiarization courses in preparation for the second sea tour of the said officers. The group was divided into two (2) wherein the first group took the Ship Handling Familiarization Course which was conducted by Capt. Ricardo Miranda, and the other group had an Engine Familiarization Course with C/E Randy Juanola. Both instructors are active seafarers, well experienced and are professionally competent in their chosen career.

The participants fully utilized the Full Mission Bridge Simulator and the Engine Room Simulator. Theories and practical exercises were given to ensure the efficiency and the proficiency of each trainee before assuming command on board.

Thereafter, all trainees were asked to give their insights about the training program for the continuous improvement and development of the courses. As a result of the survey, positive feedback and commendations on the training course, instructors and facilities, were received by COMPASS. Each participant was issued a Certificate of Completion at the end of their training program.
