Day of the Filipino Seafarers Celebration 2017 at Philippine Trade Training Center, Pasay City

This year, once again 25 June marked the annual celebration of the Day of the Seafarer. The theme of this year‘s activity is “SEAFARERS MATTER“ as an appreciation of the world in the immense contribution & valuable service of the unrecognised yet unfazed modern-day heroes – SEAFARERS. The event was held at the Philippine Trade Training Center, Pasay City and was spearheaded by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA). With over 2,500 seafarers, maritime cadets, and their families. as attendees, it was indeed a huge success. The day consisted of a series of activities including the oath- taking ceremony for new marine deck and engine officers, stage entertainment, contests & raffle draws. A range of service providers have shown support of the said event through the exhibition area giving free haircut, free massage and other giveaways. COMPASS was there with a humble booth setup and has given away free bottled water for the attendees and discount coupon for the seafarers. It is indeed a high time for the Filipino nation, & Manila being the perfect place to recognize & realize that Seafarers Matter.
